Director General of the Magen David Adom (MDA) Eli Bin, wasted no time in sending a medical team to Nepal on Thursday night following the avalanche that killed three and injured seven Israeli tourists.

In co-ordination with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bin sent a team consisting of a medical doctor and a senior paramedic to evaluate the condition of the injured, and if needed to provide further medical assistance.

The team worked with the local medical teams in the hospitals and attended to the injured. MDA made contact with the Red Cross in Nepal which co-ordinated the arrival of the Israeli team.

Subsequently, a plane was enlisted and further medical crew and medical equipment sent out.

"MDA is ready and obligated to reach any corner in the world and provide assistance to Israelis in need of medical help," said Eli Bin.

After consulting with the initial two-man team, Bin sent additional paramedics with medications and medical supplies for frost injuries treatment.
