    Guns, Nazi flags found in CT SAPS raid

    Ammunition, firearms, silencers, Nazi flags and memorabilia were discovered when police raided a Cape Town flat behind a house in Vryburger Street, Bothasig, on Friday.     UN: Yom Kippur now an official holiday

    The United Nations announced on Friday that it will recognise Yom Kippur as an official holiday from 2016. No official meetings will take place on the hallowed Day of Atonement at their New York headquarters and all Jewish employees of the UN will be able to miss work without it being considered leave. The matter was raised last May and Israel’s UN Ambassador, Ron Prosor, is pictured telling journalists on 10 July last year that it was "about time Jewish employees at the UN won’t be obligated to work on Yom Kippur."     New ‘development’ in investigation: Shin Bet

    There is a new “development” in the investigation into an arson attack that killed three members of a Palestinian family, the Shin Bet security service announced on Sunday after protests by right-wing Jews. The protests were in the wake of last week’s Israeli Supreme Court ruling that three of the Jewish suspects arrested in connection with the attack could be prevented from seeing their attorneys, which the Shin Bet said could harm the investigation.

    Tunis' top book prize for Jewish author

    French-Jewish author Tobie Nathan, pictured, wrote about the life and expulsion of Egyptian Jews – which won him a prestigious literary prize in Tunisia. The jury of the “Goncourt List: The Choice of Tunisia” award on Wednesday voted to give its first-ever prize to Nathan for his book “This Country that Resembles You”, which was published in French earlier this year
