We need to talk about our successes, not lay low

Limmud entitled to shun unacceptable BDS

    Sep 06, 2018 1 Comment
It is unfortunate that both the op-ed by Professors Bilchitz and Davis (“In shunning speakers, community mimics worst behaviour of BDS” – SA Jewish Report 30 August 2018) and the lead editorial in the same edition have mischaracterised the action taken by Limmud Cape Town in disinviting the proponents of Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS) from Limmud in Cape Town in 2018.

Jeremy Phillips, Mitchel Joffe Hunter, and Heidi Grunenbaum are activistis in support of Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS) and are involved in inciting against our community, and delegitimising the State of Israel in the public arena.

It is too horrific - even more than 70 years later - to imagine an entire Jewish community of 2 500 innocents being killed by the Nazis in collaboration with local Lithuanians.
