Know how to grow. What is BDS hiding?

    Jul 22, 2015 3 Comments
Klaas Mokgomole, pictured, is one of two of the so-called “Wits-11” censured for forcing the cancellation of an Israeli-born pianist Yosi Reshef’s concert last year. The other Wits-11 member who has become part of the so-called ANC-16 who went on a study tour two weeks ago to Israel and Palestine, is Justice Nkomo. The 16 students slammed BDS in a media release last week – and Mokgamole had another bite at the cherry over the weekend.

    Whilst Israel Remembers, S-Africa Forgets

In a severe case of selective amnesia, South Africans unfailingly remember the struggle links between themselves and their Palestinians brothers but seem to forget that it was their neighbours in Africa who gave them refuge and shelter and who allowed them a safe haven during their darkest days of apartheid.

Why we can't always moderate timeously

    Mar 29, 2015 2 Comments
SA Jewish Report really likes community feedback, whether in the form of letters to the editor or as comments on our website. We try to allow as much freedom of expression as possible to all our users and readers – but legal and decency issues must be respected. There are several people who are often censored and some who we occasionally need to censor. Here is an “Idiot’s Guide” on how to ensure your letters or comments are published.

How we cracked the story of the year

    Jan 09, 2015 Go comment!
During his 5-month-long stay in SA, Rabbi Eliezer Berland, the head of the Shuvu Bonim Breslov Chassidic sect and his followers became the most newsworthy person of the year. The “Rabbi on the Run” as he was dubbed by Israeli and world media, was making news every week – and Jewish Report regularly led the coverage of his activities – being quoted by several hundred media sources. How were we able to ‘own’ the story of the year? Read all about it and links to other stories in our "2014 Top Reads" series.

Campus battlefields are now more level

    Dec 31, 2014 1 Comment
THE RHODES FIASCO, WHAT IT COST THEM & WHO LEFT AFTER OUR EXPOSÉ. The rise of toxic anti-Zionism, followed by the fall of a once-revered University has all the makings of a novel, a thriller. Over 3 years it involved institutional spying on Jews & illicit use of public funds to bash Israel. After determined attempts by some Jewish leaders to leave it alone & those of a brave few to fight & conquer, Rhodes’ devastating & very expensive defeat, loss of leadership & huge losses of Jewish donor funding proved a lesson to institutions with more intellect at the helm.

Jewish students aim to take back US campuses

    Dec 20, 2014 Go comment!
Intimidation and hostility targeting Jewish and pro-Israel groups is gaining pace on US college campuses, just as it is globally. Now, Jerusalem U are partnering with national campus organisations like Hillel, AEPi, and StandWithUs to reach 100 college campuses with their new film, Beneath the Helmet (see YouTube trailer), which “documents the coming-of-age stories of five Israeli soldiers and connects audiences to the inspiring lives of the brave young men and women who are committed to their nation and the safety of the Jewish people.”

Who is Dorothy M Zellner? asks Ant Katz

    Nov 24, 2014 3 Comments
In a new blog-post today, ANT KATZ published the outcome of a week of digging up the dirt on what he calls “the Grande Dame of these toxic anti-Jewish Jews” who recently visited SA courtesy of BDS & Co. “The anti-Zionists then took it upon themselves to try and create a chink in the armour of SA Jewry’s fervently Zionist policies by conning upstanding and respected members of our community into participating in their anti-Israel campaigning,” writes Katz, which he says almost caused a split in the proudly-Zionist Progressive community. He calls it a disgrace.

*Yossi from the Shuvu **Bonim Yeshiva of Rabbi Eliezer Berland had a 12-minute long talk with the rabbi’s Israeli lawyer, Sharon Nahari in English after the court case in Holland last Friday. It has been made available exclusively to SA Jewish Report and gives a fascinating insight into the case – all the more so because the more media reports one reads, the more differing stories one comes across.
