Will we be affected as SA regulates religion?

    Nov 09, 2015 3 Comments
Parliamentary commission launches urgent investigation into “Commercialisation of Religion” in SA to establish the regulation of religions, writes Dr Ivor Blumenthal. The commission’s chairman, he says, is “summonsing” the Chief Rabbi and heads of other religions to appear before the commission. He suggests that if the regulations pass, we will have to account to a national structure of some kind.

    No halachic grounds against proselytising

    Oct 21, 2015 Go comment!
In his call for Jews to spread Judaism and actively seek converts, Colin Jantjies has absolutely hit the nail on the head. Allow me, if I may to quote a recent and most poignant Facebook post by Rabbi Asher Meza, an Orthodox rabbi whose organisation, Torah Judaism International (bejewish.org), promotes actively seeking converts.

'Status quo' over Temple Mount remains in place

    Oct 16, 2015 1 Comment
During a special meeting with English-speaking reporters yesterday, Israeli PM insists that the so-called ‘status quo’ instituted by Moshe Dayan on the last day of the 1967 Six Day War, continues to remain in place and accuses the PA of stoking violence even though they know this. Benjamin Netanyahu refuted Mahmoud Abbas’ ‘big lies’ in their meeting with English-speaking reporters while Ofir Gendelman, Netanyahu’s Arabic spokesman, showed slides of posters calling on Palestinians to carry out stabbing attacks.

    Why the frenzy?

    Sep 02, 2015 1 Comment
In Yiddish, they would always say “Nog a yohr in Afrika!” - “Another year in Africa!” It seems pretty inane but we all seem to go through the very same performance annually. “Oh my G-d, it’s Rosh Hashanah already!” “Where has this year gone?” You’d think that by now we’d have got accustomed to it.

Harry Potter & the Torah of Terror

    Jan 07, 2015 2 Comments

TheDailyBeast.com says, however,: “Maybe - biblical injunctions aside - Rowling’s multiculturalism is right on the money.” Read on...
