    Doyen of furniture industry reaches his century

    Isaac Jankelowitz celebrated his 100th birthday on 2 September surrounded by family and friends. Always a wonderful storyteller, he recounted his life for those celebrating with him. He told how he grew up in the shtetl of Lubtch (Lubza), in what is Belarus today, how he arrived as a poverty stricken migrant in Johannesburg in the early 1930s. He then spoke of running what was the largest furniture factory in South Africa at the time.

    Victory Park alumnae take art and philanthropy to new heights

    In honour of Women’s Month, the King David Schools’ Foundation host alumnae Kara Stoler and Anthea Pokroy (both KDHSVP 2003) at King David Victory Park on the last day of August, bringing them back to where their love for art began. They were joined by Benon Lutaaya, one of South Africa’s top selling artists, enthralling the audience with their knowledge and enthusiasm about the South African art world.

    Argentinian soccer player fights to stay in Israel
