  • Mirvis decries 'self-Imposed ghetto' at Limmud debut

Keeping to their principle of not elevating any speaker, organisers didn't introduce him as he took the podium.   • UK Chief Rabbi’s tribute to Madiba

    The passing of Madiba drew UK Chief Rabbi’s thoughts back to the city of his upbringing, Cape Town, “a city where wealth glistened beside poverty & where liberty was manacled by the chains of separation and oppression,” he writes. Rabbi Mirvis senior remains a Capetonian to this day, while his late was Principal of a black Teachers Training College.

  • Goebbels' namesake put to death

    Over 35 years since his 1977 hate murders of Jews and African Americans, Joseph Paul Franklin was executed last week. At 26 he changed his name to Joseph Paul, in honour of Paul Joseph Goebbels. The monster, who is believed to have killed at least 28 people and once bombed a Shul, later told the court that he wanted to 'find a Jew and kill him.'

  • India, China add Eastern Spice to Limmud

    Spurred on by the success of Beijing 2012 & Shanghai 2013, the Indian Jewish community of Mumbai held their first Limmud last week – sponsored by the “Joint.” The inaugural event drew in 137 registered participants and had a particularly Indian flavour. There is no mention as to whether Orthodox participation was an issue.
