    If the latest draft resolution at Unesco on “Occupied Palestine” succeeded in the Palestinians' aims to reclaim the world's attention, then it was a Pyrrhic victory at best and a setback at worst. Part of an effort on Jerusalem initiated at Unesco in 2015 by the Palestinian Authority, the October 12 vote saw a comfortable majority of states, including Russia and China, pass language calling on Israel "to cease the persistent excavations and works in East Jerusalem, particularly in and around the Old City”, as one clause reads.

Evidence suggests that ISIS’s Sinai Province is collaborating with Hamas, whose members are known to cross into the Sinai for training purposes. Senior ISIS Sinai leaders travel to Gaza, and ISIS fighters are believed to have been taken to Gaza for medical assistance.

    Last Friday, the chairman of Unesco’s executive board tried to put a damper on a controversial Thursday vote that seemed to reject Jewish ties to Jerusalem. “We need more time and dialogue between the members of the board to reach a consensus,” Michael Worbs told the French news agency AFP. This after the massive backlash from Israel (which withdrew from the body) and many US groups. SA voted in favour of the bill. Will the resolution sink before it can swim?

J-Post refers to Goldstein as “The Good Shabbos Rabbi”. How influential does this make Rabbi Goldstein in the eyes of what is often called the most international of Israeli newspapers? Very. He came in 21st, ahead of the likes of Natan Sharansky (24th) and President Reuven Rivlin (29th).
