    “It was with a sense of déjà vu that the SAJBD witnessed SA Ambassador to Israel, Sisa Ngombane, being shouted down and abused when trying to speak at a press conference,” wrote the Board’s national executive director Wendy Kahn last week. “Those bent on demonising Israel at every opportunity cannot bear it when others presume to present a different narrative.”

    Unesco bill may not be put to vote Tuesday

    Last Friday, the chairman of Unesco’s executive board tried to put a damper on a controversial Thursday vote that seemed to reject Jewish ties to Jerusalem. “We need more time and dialogue between the members of the board to reach a consensus,” Michael Worbs told the French news agency AFP. This after the massive backlash from Israel (which withdrew from the body) and many US groups. SA voted in favour of the bill. Will the resolution sink before it can swim?
