The new three-floor building includes youth zones for various ages, adult-education spaces, an outside terrace with a beautiful view, offices, and a coffee station.

The festivities began outside the centre with mingling, delicious food, and a live jazz band. Community Chairperson Norman Jackson opened the event by paying tribute to generous donors Ivan and Lynette Saltzman and family, and Gerald and Elana Olitzki. He also thanked fellow executives Brian Weinberg, Stan Matthews, Farrel Berson, and Ivor Klitzner; the building committee, contractors, and subcontractors, various subcommittees, shul staff, and volunteers for their tremendous support.

Chief Rabbi Dr Warren Goldstein said the new edifice was a statement of optimism in the future of the community and country.

Lynette Saltzman, who together with her husband, Ivan, was a major sponsor of the building project, spoke passionately about the need for spaces which facilitate Jewish unity and community.

The Saltzmans were then presented with a scroll of honour highlighting the gratitude of the community for their generosity.

Rabbi Levi Avtzon from Linksfield Shul spoke about the vision behind the project, saying that big shuls had a bright future.

Following the opening, there has been continuous feedback from the community expressing its gratitude for the vision, optimism, and generosity that made this historic project a reality.

The festivities will continue in a few weeks’ time with the opening of the new Mikvah Rachel, generously sponsored by Dan and Melanie Saltzman.
