    South Africans across the spectrum have been appalled by the horrendous waves of xenophobic violence that have erupted in various parts of the country. The fact that the victims have been targeted solely on account of their foreign nationality, has added an especially dismaying dimension to the unrest.

    The Pretoria Jewish community was joined in full force this past Sunday by a number of diplomats and Christian Friends of Israel to commemorate Yom Hashoah in memory of the Six Million Jewish martyrs who perished at the hands of the Nazis during the Second World War.

    KosherWorld apologise for storm in coffee cup

    Three Rastas (two of them pictured) & The Star newspaper made what could well be called “a storm in a coffee cup” after claims of "racial profiling” occupied over half of the Star's front page on Wednesday. KosherWorld's management told the Jewish Report that they "feel very badly about the experience" and added that they "welcome everybody to our Centre”.

    Board acts after three assaulted in Rosebank

That is the hashtag being used by the SAJBD in the wake of last Saturday night’s incident at The Zone in Rosebank, Johannesburg, where three Jewish teenagers were verbally abused and in two cases physically assaulted by three unidentified males. “From several of the comments reportedly made by the perpetrators, it would appear that the attack was anti-Semitically motivated,” the SA Jewish Board of Deputies said in a media statement. Jewish students and Cape SAJBD were up in arms & the story is making international headlines. It is unclear why dissenting students who want founder Cecil Rhodes’ statue removed have targeted Jewish students in the process.

    Hillel vows to supports SA Jewish students

    The world’s largest Jewish campus comes out in support of SA Jewish students. US-based Hillel International vowed last week that they will not allow hatred against Jewish students in SA to escalate. The SRC at Durban University of Technology (DUT) had demanded the expulsion of Jewish students, a call that was swiftly nipped in the bud by DUT’s administration. Hillel has 105 Foundations & over 350 affiliates in America, Europe, Israel & Eastern Europe. They join a barrage of support SAUJS has received from overseas.
