    During the late 1960s and early 1970s, members of the Union of Jewish Women (UJW) assisted Meals on Wheels, which was being run by a church in Yeoville. They discovered that there were Jewish recipients who felt forced to accept non-kosher food as there was nowhere they could get kosher food. Most of them were housebound and lonely.

    Two child-sized wheelchairs were presented to pupils at the Lebohang Centre for Disabled Children (LCDC) in Sebokeng by the Women’s International Zionist Organisation (WIZO) and the South African Friends of Israel (SAFI) on 27 March. The wheelchairs are intended to empower the pupils’ education through mobility.
