    At a briefing for the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Co-operation (Dirco) last week Friday, the South African Jewish Board of Deputies (SAJBD) told the gathering that the issue of anti-Israeli sentiment has unfortunately degenerated into anti-Semitism.

    Kol Isha dispute is settled in Johannesburg

    The threat by some Orthodox and other South African Jews and interfaith groups to take the SA Jewish Board of Deputies’ Gauteng Council to the Equality Court over kol isha, the halachic ban on women singing in front of men, has been amicably resolved for Yom Hashoah in Johannesburg, as was the case earlier this year in Cape Town.
