    #What you do matters

    This year, King David High School Linksfield’s Awareness Week is a little different to last year. Appropriately scheduled in commemoration of Youth Day, it focuses on ignorance versus activism. But this year, aside from the fact that each day will be experienced virtually, it takes place in the wake of a global pandemic which has highlighted disparities in our communities. It takes place amidst the horror and heartbreak of #Icantbreathe and George Floyd. It takes place as protests around the world extract the best and worst from human nature. For us, it’s clear that we can’t be passive. We can’t claim ignorance. What we do matters.

    Riley swims ahead for five years straight

    Riley Bick in Grade 8 at King David High School Victory Park has managed to achieve the victrix ludorum award for swimming for five consecutive years. Riley won the junior victrix ludorum in Grade 4 in 2016; the junior victrix ludorum in Grade 5 in 2017; the senior victrix ludorum in Grade 6 in 2018; the senior victrix ludorum in Grade 7 in 2019; and the high school’s junior victrix ludorum in Grade 8 in 2020.

    Back-A-Pupil education drive changes lives

    More than 300 educational packs were distributed to children residing in Kliptown, Soweto, in the first week of June in an initiative between the King David Schools’ Foundation (KDSF), King David Junior Primary Linksfield (KDJPL), the Union of Jewish Women Johannesburg (UJW), and Back-A-Pupil.

    KDL “just keeps swimming” for mental health

    King David High School Linksfield last Sunday hosted a “Just Keep Swimming Mental Health Awareness Swimathon” to stand up against teen suicide. All the proceeds went towards Adam’s Forum, a platform created in honour of the late Adam Seef, to raise awareness or break the stigma that surrounds mental illness.
