Denying Israel’s actions, won’t buy these Jews indemnity

Calling for diplomatic ties with Israel to be cut in a letter recently signed by 52 Jews, among them some prominent personalities, who condemned the “completely disproportionate” assault by Israel’s bombing of Gaza recently, must surely realise now that notwithstanding their statements they together with world Jewry are now a target of the groundswell of virulent anti-Semitism sweeping the world.

This worldwide phenomenon that is unprecedented in our modern age is not an isolated condemnation of Israel resulting from the current Gaza conflict. It is without any question a rising of fascist racist loathing, supported by leftist and liberals, all with a common thread – extreme hatred of the Jews.

While the liberal left will argue this charge, why have they been so very prominent and complicit in the demonstrations in cities around the world where crazed crowds bay for Jewish blood and in some cases resorted to violence? These Jews calling to cut diplomatic ties, must surely know how the Nazi sniffed out the Jew who was hiding behind conversion and denial.

By dissociating themselves from mainstream South African Jewish sentiment, will unfortunately not buy them immunity from the anti-Semitic vitriol and heaven forbid if xenophobic attacks raise its ugly head – nothing new in this country – in fact by putting their names to paper they have identified themselves when the witch hunt begins. They need not be too concerned, for when forced to seek refuge, Israel will not hold their sentiment against them.
