Even his business, CellVault, which builds secure lockers for high-end products, aimed to contribute to South Africa whatever way it could, he said.

“Whether it’s by preventing crime, adding customer convenience, or employing the previously unemployed, in our own small way, CellVault is adding value to South Africa and making a difference.

“No matter your adversities, your age, or how many failures you’ve had, as long as you have the drive and belief, you can achieve a lot.”

Gewer also gave advice to budding entrepreneurs, telling them not to slip into being comfortable, but rather always seek to evolve.

“To everyone trying to make a difference, I say, put in the work and don’t worry about trying to change the world. [Rather] find something you love doing every day. Do that for the rest of your life, and you’ll see, the world will change!”
