KDL “just keeps swimming” for mental health

King David High School Linksfield last Sunday hosted a “Just Keep Swimming Mental Health Awareness Swimathon” to stand up against teen suicide. All the proceeds went towards Adam’s Forum, a platform created in honour of the late Adam Seef, to raise awareness or break the stigma that surrounds mental illness.

The response was overwhelming, including four swimmers training for the English Channel who used the opportunity to swim 15km each. The KDL dancers, student leaders, teachers, and various sports groups also swam together for the cause.

The event was sponsored by Biscuit By Design, Jozi Blue, Simply Stick It, Love From Me Stickers, Kosher Nando’s, Chilla, Be//Le Fit, The Laser Beautique, Tali Romberg, Star Showroom, Malcolm Block, and Sparkle Cosmetics, who contributed to an amazing day.

Of course, without help from students and teachers, the day wouldn’t have been as successful. The school hopes to make it an annual event.
