WIZO addresses vital issues

The Women’s International Zionist Organisation’s (WIZO’s) most recent forum on 19 March discussed vital issues affecting the Jewish community in South Africa. These include the downgrading of the South African Embassy in Israel, the Clover deal and what it would mean for South Africa, and the stance of the South African government vis-à-vis Israel, and towards the local Jewish community.

This month’s panel of speakers included Ben Swartz, the National Chairman of the South Africa Zionist Federation, and Benji Shulman, the Executive Director of the South African Israel Forum. Deena Katzen, the head of the South African Union of Jewish Students (SAUJS) at the University of the Witwatersrand, spoke about strategies in place to combat the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS)-organised Israel Apartheid Week coming up next month.
