Choirmaster returns to roots at Pine Street Shul
Richard Shavei-Tzion, once choirmaster at Pine Street Shul in Orchards, Johannesburg, returned to the shul recently to talk about his travels and choral work around the world.

After making aliya with his family many years ago, Shavei-Tzion directed choral ensembles in Israel and South Africa. Over the past 20 years, he has been directing the Ramatayim Men’s Choir, Jerusalem, which has grown from a group of four friends into an internationally renowned ensemble consisting of 40 singers.
