Local Rabbis noticeably absent from Limmud

I have been a supporter of Limmud since its inception, and admire it for the work it does.

As per usual, Limmud 2018 was world class. The standard of lectures, the quality of local and international presenters, the Yiddishkeit, and particularly the number of young people attending and participating all made me feel very proud to be associated with this organisation.

I could not help but notice that our Johannesburg Rabbonim were missing from the event.

I feel that they, and the Limmud delegates, are missing out on an opportunity to learn from one another.

What is the reason for them not attending? Are they forbidden from participating?

Our community has two world-class learning events in Sinai Indaba and Limmud. I attend both of them.

I battle to understand why the Rabbis attend one but not the other.
