Replacing the good deed plaques

The year 1981 was proclaimed the International Year of Disabled Persons by the United Nations, which called for a plan of action with an emphasis on the equalisation of opportunities, rehabilitation, and prevention of disabilities.

That year, the Union of Jewish Women (UJW) donated ramps to the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum in Port Elizabeth, giving access to people in wheelchairs.

Recently, the museum was painted, and the original plaques were lost. The UJW have just replaced the plaques.
