Rugby revival of note at KD Linksfield

In 2014 the rugby department at KDHSL made a step up congruent with planning after a dismal 2013 season across some age groups. The broader plan of growing the game always remaining a priorit, the school has managed to now field two under-14 teams, two under-15 teams, an under-16 squad and an open squad.

KDL moved leagues to join the newly-formed Pirates Schools Challenge B section with De La Salle Holy Cross College, Glenvista, St Peters and CBC Boksburg, along with traditional friendlies against Northcliff, Edenglen and King David Victory Park.

The annual King David High School encounter is always a crowd puller. This year it was hosted at KDHSL as the KD High Schools Sport & Culture Day.

The rugby teams from Linksfield dominated the scoreboard with the under 14 A team winning 33-5; the under 16s winning 45-3 and the first 15 winning 47-5.

In the Pirates Schools Challenge all the A teams from KDHSL qualified unbeaten for the finals of this new challenge played on June 11. The under-14s, under-16s and first team won the finals, while the under 15s lost narrowly 13-12 to CBC Boksburg.
