In anticipation, the children came out to greet the members of the Union of Jewish Women. The drum majorettes were so proud of themselves dressed in their smart uniforms and the choir entertained the guests beautifully.

After the presentation of the new shoes to the overwhelmed grade 6 pupils, the gumboot dancers came out and entertained the crowd to a rousing display of their energetic dancing.

Due to the public’s great response, the Mandela Day Shoe Project, has now reached the halfway mark.

The UJW appeals to the community to continue to support this project by donating a pair of new school shoes or a monetary donation of R100, to enable it to purchase 500 pairs or more.
