A big hug to new South African citizen Mascha Schainberg

During a holiday to Cape Town last year I visited the Holocaust Centre there and was deeply touched. So, when I read an article about Holocaust survivor Mascha Schainberg obtaining her South African citizenship, in the South African Jewish Report last week, I was excited and honoured as a fellow South African.

In fact, when I saw the photograph of Schainberg with the Minister of Home Affairs Malusi Gigaba, I was envious… because I wished I were there to give her a big hug! I hope the South African Jewish Report together with the SA Jewish community will be hosting celebrations to give Mascha Schainberg a “Proudly South African” welcome.

I enjoy reading your newspaper and find the contents very insightful.

Keep up the excellent work.
