These weighty ‘trommels’ will (over)kill one!

It would provide an interesting exercise to investigate the health of some staff members of the Jewish youth camps, with specific reference to their back problems, crushed feet and hernias.

One of our grandsons attended Bnei Akiva camp this past December. I was available to take possession of his “trommel” (trunk) by camp staff members on his return. The bulk and weight of this piece of luggage for one individual (multiplied by probably over 1 000 campers) is quite ludicrous.

To lift a single “trommel” – approximately four times the child’s weight – is quite beyond the capabilities of even two or three kids.

And to have staff to cope with the multitude of “trommels” seems to me like an insurmountable task!

Is it really necessary for a child to have to schlep over 100 kilos of possessions for a relatively short time at the sea?

To me it seems like overkill.
