Berland says he’ll hand himself in Monday
Berland was supposed to surrender to police two weeks ago according to police – and be handed over to Interpol to be returned to Israel. Now, his attorney and the NPP have arranged, he says he will hand himself over next week Monday.
When Berland escaped Holland, he snuck back into South Africa with a band of about 200 followers from his Shuvu Banim Breslov sect which operates out of a yeshiva in Jerusalem. The number of followers grew and the Hawks and Interpol missed arresting him for a third time two months ago at a Midrand hotel.
In the other extradition matter of the ongoing attempt by the Hawks, acting for Interpol, to extradite suspected Israeli mob-boss, Mulaudzi said: “The matter of SHAI MOSLIE IS POSTPONED to July 11 for the enquiry to be heard.” Moslie is currently out on bail.
