King David Under-12s win tournament for third time

King David Primary School Linksfield’s Under-12 football team won the Discovery Knockout Tournament for the third time in a row in a nailbiting final on 25 June.

The tournament, held under the auspices of the Johannesburg Primary Schools Football Association, takes place every year during the soccer season.

A total of 1 134 matches were played this year over the five-week tournament across the Under-9 to Open age groups for boys and girls. Sixty-four teams entered the tournament in each age group.

Three teams from King David Linksfield made it through to the finals. The King David Under-10 team lost in the semifinal to Yeshiva College.

The King David Under-9s played an incredible match that went to extra time and ended 2-2, with the Under-9s losing on a corner count.

The Under-11s showcased their skills and teamwork to win the final 4-0.

After 50 minutes of competitive football, the King David Under-12s won their match 5-2, being crowned champion for the third consecutive year.
