Symons flies SA flag high at Bible contest

King David High School Linksfield student and Tanach whizz, Hailey Symons, flew the South African flag high at the recent Chidon HaTanach Ha’Olami International Bible Contest. Chidon HaTanach Ha’Olami is an annual international competition for high school students from 18 countries, focusing on Tanach (the Hebrew Bible). It was held in Jerusalem on Yom Ha’atzmaut, Thursday, 1 May, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in attendance.

Symons, in Grade 10, was the top performer of the South African trio at the contest, coming seventh overall. Shayna Nudelman and Eliana Sussman, both from Hirsch Lyons, were the other two students in the South African trio.
