Yeshiva Grade 7s sound shofar far and wide
For the past five years, every Grade 7 boy at Yeshiva College has received a shofar. Throughout Elul, under Rabbi Zevi Weinberg (Rav Zev’s) guidance, the boys eagerly learn to use them. Walk around campus, and you’ll hear them, sometimes a little too enthusiastically, filling the school with the joyful sounds of this timeless mitzvah.
As these boys grow into Grades 8 to 12, the skills they’ve learned continue to resonate. Stories come back of Yeshiva alumni sounding the shofar for families, friends, and communities. On Rosh Hashanah, they bring the shofar to their neighbourhoods, spreading joy and the spirit of the mitzvah far and wide.
It’s inspiring to see how this simple act, sounding the shofar, connects generations, strengthens community, and allows our students to carry forward a sacred tradition. The dedication of our Grade 7s ensures that this mitzvah will continue to bless many for years to come.
