UJW brings Christmas cheer to Durban patients

The Durban branch of the Union of Jewish Women (UJW) once again spread Christmas cheer over the festive season by handing out grocery vouchers to patients attending the Kathleen Voysey Clinic.

UJW XmasThe Clinic, housed at the Methodist Church Hall, is run entirely by volunteer staff, including doctors, nurses and pharmacists.

It is a primary health care facility which provides HIV, AIDS and TB-related treatment, care and support services for underprivileged adults. 

Testing is also done for hypertension and diabetes and minor wounds are dressed. 

The Union of Jewish Women began this project a number of years ago by donating food packs, UJW National Chair Lynne Raphaely told JR Online, “but decided a few years ago to rather donate supermarket vouchers so that the patients can choose what they’d like to purchase.”

Once again the ladies have done the community proud.
