King David Primary brings Jerusalem to Johannesburg

King David Primary School Linksfield celebrated Yom Yerushalayim on Monday, 26 May, with a joyous celebration that captured the beauty, history, and holiness of the eternal capital of the Jewish people.

A special assembly featured music, dance, poetry, and tehillim, as well as footage from the Six-Day War and the liberation of the Old City. The performances reminded the audience of its connection to Yerushalayim – past, present, and future.

A burst of Israeli flavour, including music; blue, white and gold face paint; and falafel and shawarma all added to the fun. The Jewish National Fund’s interactive monit hazahav (golden virtual cab) ride transported students around Yerushalayim. The day ended on a high with an energetic rendition of Jerusalema and Hebrew song by the CityBoys Pantsula Dancers, blending South African rhythm with the spirit of celebration.
