The Purim Party is open to all senior citizens and will take place at Chabad House on 27 Aintree Avenue in Savoy on Sunday, 16th of March from 11:30am.

EVERYONE’S INVITED: “If you know of anyone who is ‘young at heart,’ please inform them of this event,” asks Rabbi Kievman, thus bringing the joy of Purim to those who may otherwise not experience it.

WHAT IS PURIM?

Purim celebrates the salvation of the Jewish people, in the year 3405 from Creation (356 bce), from Haman’s plot “to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews, young and old, infants and women, in a single day.” Purim literally means “lots” for Haman determined the day of annihilation by throwing a lottery. It is observed by public readings of the Megillah – “Scroll of Esther,” sending food portions to friends, giving gifts of money to the poor, and enjoying a festive meal accompanied with joyous drink. Everyone will be able to fulfil the commandments of Purim at this event.
