This was part of the My Family Story project, conducted in collaboration with Partnership2gether and the Israel Centre South Africa.

My Family Story is a global educational programme sponsored by Beit Hatfutsot, the Museum of the Jewish People, located in Tel Aviv. The programme gives Jewish youth the opportunity to express their ideas through creativity and artistic skills based on their family roots, historical memory and Jewish family values.

Art exhibitions were held at all three schools to showcase the children’s creativity. Aviad Sela, director of the Israel Centre SA, along with Courtneigh Bernstein and Kim Nates from the Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre, had the difficult task of judging the magnificent artworks.

Two winners were selected at each participating school. The winners were: Kim Noriskin and Cayla Dembo from King David Victory Park Primary School; Sara Ress and Sarah Levy from Torah Academy; and Liora Freeman and Avigal Rogoff from Yeshiva College.

Their projects will be sent to the Beit Hatfutsot Museum and entered into an international competition together with hundreds of other projects from around the world.
