Tribute to Madiba

It is with much sadness that the SA Zionist Federation commemorates the death of Nelson Mandela, exceptional leader, visionary, icon and statesman par excellence.

ADS - SAZF New LOGO 347Mandela, revered ‘tata’ of the South African nation, gave his life for the freedom of his people and his country; and he changed the course of South Africa’s history¸ fighting for human rights and creating the foundation upon which the stable and democratic South Africa rests today.

We are proud and privileged to have been part of that history, and to have lived alongside him as he moved us from the darkness and oppression of apartheid to the light of the freedom of democracy

Madiba was a passionate advocate who championed the cause of democracy, a freedom fighter who eschewed violence, and a man of integrity and principles who, despite his long and arduous incarceration, set an example to his people and the rest of the world of how to build bridges and unite nations.

His passion for justice, honour and equity, his exceptional contribution to humanity, and his wisdom, foresight and generosity of spirit were the hallmarks of this great reformer.

As we mourn together with his family and the world, we simultaneously celebrate the life of one of the history’s greatest sons.

He will be remembered for all time for the wonderful legacy he left behind him.
