Consistent kindness makes a difference

Mann Made is deeply honoured to continue our longstanding sponsorship of the Community Service Award at the Investec Jewish Achiever Awards. For several years, this award has held a special place in our hearts, recognising extraordinary individuals and organisations whose compassion and selfless service make a meaningful difference within the Jewish community and broader South African society.

This year, we are especially proud to congratulate Joan Block, the 2026 Community Service Award winner, whose unwavering dedication to the Selwyn Segal Gift Centre embodies the spirit of this award.

As a longstanding volunteer and key driving force behind the gift centre, Block has devoted her time and energy to supporting the Selwyn Segal home, which provides specialised care, accommodation, and therapeutic enrichment for 120 residents with intellectual and physical disabilities. Through the sale of bespoke gifts, Judaica, and lifestyle products, the gift centre raises vital funds that go directly towards supporting the care and well-being of its residents.

Block’s remarkable contribution reminds us that meaningful change does not always come from grand gestures. Often, it is the quiet, consistent acts of kindness, generosity, and commitment that have the greatest impact. Her dedication is an inspiring example of what it means to put community and service before self.

At Mann Made, our identity as a family-run business has always shaped our belief in the importance of people, connection, and community. Through storytelling, creative production, and meaningful partnerships, we strive to create experiences that move people and inspire positive change. Supporting this award is a natural extension of these values, allowing us to celebrate those whose actions truly make a difference.

As we reflect on this year’s awards, we celebrate not only Block’s outstanding contribution, but also the remarkable individuals and organisations recognised for their service to others.

To Joan Block, our heartfelt congratulations on this well-deserved recognition. To all the nominees, thank you for your compassion, generosity, and tireless commitment to uplifting those around you. Your actions strengthen our communities, inspire future generations, and remind us of the extraordinary difference one person can make.

On behalf of everyone at Mann Made, thank you for lighting the way.
