A new chapter for Yad’s Soup for the Soul

With thanks to the generosity of Brian and Ros Jossel, Jewish food fund Yad Aharon & Michael celebrated the opening of its revamped soup kitchen in Johannesburg’s Rouxville.

The space redefines what a community soup kitchen is all about, with indoor and outdoor dining areas, fully equipped kosher kitchens ‒ both meat and milk ‒ and vibrant art decorating the space.

Yad’s Soup for the Soul started 11 years ago and has evolved into a modern and inviting café-style facility, welcoming members of the community who need food assistance.

The space offers not only delicious meals but hope, dignity, and a sense of belonging.

Fresh, nutritious, and cost-saving meals are prepared onsite and served every Tuesday and Wednesday.

The doors of the made-over kitchen are open and all donations go towards meals for recipient families.
