The Kosher Butcher’s wife in London
A taste of South Africa came to Mill Hill, London, when Sharon Lurie, author of The Kosher Butcher’s Wife series, presented a cooking demonstration to a sold-out audience in May.
Some attendees were South African expatriates, eager to taste the flavours of home again, while others wanted to experience authentic South African cuisine for the first time.
“It was a fun evening, with some reconnecting with family roots through food,” said Lurie.
The event was held in support of Yonah, a new charity that South African-born Joanne Dove has founded in the United Kingdom. Through community gatherings, youth programmes, singles and couples initiatives, and adult education, Yonah creates a space where all Jews belong. It provides mental health and emotional support to those in need.
