Board unites communal leaders to protect community
Message from the SA Jewish Board of Deputies
From the minute our leadership woke up on 13 June, we worked with all authorities, including holding a meeting of Jewish communal leaders to discuss the implications for the South African Jewish community, and to make sure that they work as a united front so that our community can be protected and informed.
We’re aware that the Chief Rabbinate in Israel has cancelled Shabbat services. This applies to Israel only. Shabbat services will go ahead in South Africa.
Our teams are actively monitoring developments from political, security, and media perspectives in collaboration with all relevant authorities to ensure informed decision making. We will provide updates to the community as needed should the situation evolve.
Any specific security advisories will be communicated directly by the Community Security Organisation.
Our hearts are with the people of Israel, and we wish you a Shabbat Shalom, filled with peace and community.
