Israel’s pre-emptive strike an act of last resort

Published

Message from the South African Zionist Federation

In the early hours of 13 June, Israel carried out a precise and targeted military operation against key elements of Iran’s nuclear weapons programme. This was a pre-emptive measure, an act of last resort, taken to protect the Israeli people from an immediate and existential threat.

For decades, the Iranian regime has made its objective unmistakably clear: the complete annihilation of the state of Israel. This isn’t hyperbole, but a declared goal, supported by an arsenal of enriched uranium, long-range missiles, and co-ordination with terror proxies such as Hamas and Hezbollah. Intelligence has revealed the existence of a concrete, co-ordinated strategy known as “The Destruction of Israel Plan”, which outlines the regime’s intention to launch a combined assault on multiple fronts.

This isn’t rhetoric, it’s policy. Iran’s recent accumulation of highly enriched uranium, a third of it obtained in just the past three months, marks a rapid and dangerous escalation. Coupled with its ties to regional terror networks and growing military capability, it left Israel with no choice but to act decisively.

The Jewish people have learnt, through painful history, that when a regime pledges our destruction, we must take it seriously. Time and again, inaction in the face of genocidal intent has come at a terrible cost. Israel’s operation is grounded in this historical memory, and in the fundamental right of any nation to defend its citizens from those who seek its annihilation.

This action isn’t aimed at the Iranian people, but at those within the regime who threaten regional stability, sponsor terrorism, and pursue nuclear weapons with the intent to use them. The aim is deterrence, not escalation, security, not conquest.

In protecting itself, Israel has also defended the wider world from the threat of a nuclear-armed regime with a record of aggression and terror. It doesn’t seek thanks, only understanding.

This moment calls for clarity, a sovereign state under direct and credible threat has acted to defend itself. We urge the international community to recognise the context, gravity, and necessity of Israel’s response.

    1) having seen the damage in Israel this weekend Israel faces an existential crisis from Iran and if we dont have access to B2/B52 bunker busters, perhaps we need to roll out the Hiroshima specials to blast the subterranean bunkers which these complicit lunatics have built for their paradise.Remember Japan did not surrender until the US showed them the light…lots of it
2)Chrispin phiri’s at DIRCO latest media statement(more a Pavlovian response for hungry dogs) is not worth a dog’s breakfast for its propaganda and dishonesty. Iran has wrapped itself around, Assad,Hizballa, Hamas, and the Houtis and orchestrate and conduct the war effort against Israel. The invertebrate melanophillic Mr Phiri just can’t join the dots trying to disentangle the axis of islamic fundamentalism which has at its roots, antisemitism no different to the nazi ideology.(ask Fareed issak)
    3) Tamra in the galilee was hit with 5 deaths in one house. We share in their grief.Let’s hope Imtiaz Sooliman the Munificient gives something to this grieving Moslem family
But the BBC ‘s Bashega was quick to describe an Israeli Arab town as “Palestinian”.
4)As for the flatulent Kevin Bloom whose writing have now descended into Kabala, he reminds me of those luftmenshen in a chagall painting floating(too much gas) around the sky.As Abraham Lincoln said one’s legs must be long enough to reach the ground.Next time he lands his spaceship,it could be in Teheran

The real question is what took Israel so long?
If cuba had been lobbing missiles onto the USA
The US would have smashed them and their suppliers

I hope it was not our idiotic Minister Gwede Mantasha , who did hint at saying that Iran was welcome to buy from South Africa, our uranium in the past. But did he? Who knows? He has said nothing. So hopefully, he never did. But truthfully, we put nothing past the ANC.
