Daniel Linde, Jewish Voices for a Just Peace, writes:

South African Jewish Voices for a Just Peace (JVJP) condemns the Israeli government’s plan for the expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank.

According to Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, an occupying force must not transfer its own civilian population into the occupied territory. As the International Court of Justice affirmed in 2004, the construction of Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories violates international law.

On 30 January 2015, Israel published new tenders for 450 settlement homes in the West Bank. This planned expansion of Israel’s settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories is illegal and a primary obstacle to the realisation of a just end to the occupation. Violation of international law and moves towards further entrenching the occupation on the ground are hazardous to aspirations for justice and peace in the region. As US State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said, the planned construction is of no security benefit to Israel.

JVJP calls on the Israeli government to immediately reverse its decision to tender and to refrain from taking further steps to entrench and extend the occupation. In a volatile Middle East and global context, it is important that Israel refrain from illegalities and acts of unwarranted aggression. We urge the Israeli government rather to work towards stability and a just and lasting peace.

As South African Jews working towards an urgent end to Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian land, we also call on the South African Jewish Board of Deputies and the South African Zionist Federation to add their voice to the condemnation of continued settlement building.

‘By supporting a two state solution the SAJBD and SAJF are in reality condemning settlement building in Judea and Samaria, and advocating the expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Israelis from their homes.

\nThe people in Gaza and West Bank are there illegally. Ask any rabbi. The torah says that the jews were there first. No discussion. The JVJP can decide to live with the arabs or the jews. But stop propagating nonsense about the rights of Palestinians. They have no rights even in their arab countries let alone Israel. Jews do not need them in Israel . Israel is Golan, shebaa farms, Gaza, West Bank and Sinai.(incl current territory) Forget about the UN resolutions etc.It belongs to Israel’

‘JVJP:Jewish voices for a just peace…all three of you.?

Mr Linde, whe I hear the code word \”just\”peace which is Palestinian newspeak for the end of Israel, and the right of return of all Palestinian refugees from 1948,on,to Israel proper.

The questions you should be asking are why Kerry’s Peace efforts failed last year…..all due to Palestinian intransigence.

I am still waiting for Palestinian concessions and compromise and negotiating, not a document to sign.

And yes the firing of rockets against civilian targets(or as the left calls them: firecrackers)is also in violation of the 4th Geneva Convention, and its protocols.

There is a new movement afoot called JWB…Jews without borders.’
