Be vigilant and report anything suspicious – CSO

Published

on

As you are no doubt aware, over the past few hours, Israel launched Operation Rising Lion which included targeted strikes on various Iranian infrastructure and leaders. As a result, Iran has launched an attack on Israel.

At present, we have no specific information suggesting a threat to our community in South Africa. However, out of an abundance of caution, the Community Security Organisation (CSO) has adjusted its threat level responsibly and in line with unfolding events and its threat matrix. The CSO will increase its security presence in order to ensure that our community is as safe as possible. The increased security will persist until such time as we can return to a state of normal security levels.

We’re encouraging all members of the community to be extra vigilant and attentive in coming days. We advise community members to call in anything suspicious or out of place immediately.

We urge you to follow the following basic security practices, which are even more important over the coming days:

  • Be aware of your surroundings, particularly in and around communal spaces, places of worship, and public events. If you don’t recognise anyone or see something out of place, contact the CSO emergency number immediately;
  • Report anything suspicious. If you see something unusual or out of place, contact the CSO emergency number immediately;
  • Avoid sharing details of communal events; and
  • Follow the guidance of trained security personnel when entering or exiting communal buildings and generally.

This isn’t a time for fear, but for calm and focused vigilance. Security is a communal collaborative effort.

Thank you for your co-operation and commitment to our collective safety.
