The packs, which each consisted of an age-appropriate educational booklet, koki pens, pen, pencil, and eraser, were prepared by students from KDJPL and distributed through the UJW’s networks.
The focus of the project, spearheaded by Amy Pleaner and Yael Segal, was to teach King David Primary students that unlike themselves, many children aren’t privileged to have access to online teaching, and that they have the power to make a change for South African children, who regardless of socio-economic status, race, or religion, should have access to education and the opportunity to thrive.
The project was funded by generous donors to the Outreach Programmes of KDSF, one of the key strategic areas for which the KDSF raises funds. The objective of these programmes is for King David students to interact with their counterparts and to provide the opportunity to transcend socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
